The torturous silence was getting too much for him. He couldn't help but ask: "Jie, why did you adopt me in back then?"
She answered the same way she always did: "Because you're my brother."
He had asked this question many times before, but her answer never changed.
He once suspected that she was lying, but at this moment, he felt she honestly regarded him as her brother.
Suddenly, all the indignation, sorrow, unwillingness, and resentment he felt inside became nothing.
He walked out the door and stared at the empty corridor.
There was no courage to look back, nor any hope for anything more.
Her thoughts never deviated. From start to finish, she only thought of him as her brother.
He was wrong.
He was so wrong.
He shouldn't have made malicious conjectures about her kindness.
He should have just erased her intention to make them siblings from the get-go.
He shouldn't have taken up the attitude of 'wait and see'. He shouldn't have hesitated.
He made his move too late; far too late.
Even when he slowly shut that door, he was reluctant to part and turned back to look at her through the slit of the doorway.
She didn't look at him to the very end.
She must hate him so much right now.
Did he regret it?
He squeezed his hands tightly and allowed the door to close behind, never to see her again.
He didn't regret it at all. He was just extremely sad.
He felt as if he had once more become an existence the world had turned its back on and had to revert back to the former place of darkness.
There would be no one to take him away this time.
Qi Yuan stood at the door for a very long time.
He kept waiting for her to chase after him and stood there until his legs became numb, but she really didn't want him this time.
When Yan Ge heard the door close, her body finally relaxed and turned into jelly on the sofa.
Ji Zai asked in puzzlement: “What you're doing isn't beneficial. It's better to happily roll in the sheets with him. Maybe after some rolling, he'll break through his trial. Now look, you've driven him away. What are you going to do about the mission task?"
Yan Ge closed her eyes and sighed with a despairing face: "The task won't be completed anyway. My heart doesn't feel good so why should he feel any better? What 'happily roll in the sheets'? If I wanted that, I would have found a man much earlier. Why do I have to dedicate my body to make him happy?"
Ji Zai opened its mouth wide but could not respond to Yan Ge for a long time.
It has been watching idol dramas for some time now. The protagonists in those stories were not like this; not even the female matches were like Yan Ge.
Yan Ge's way of thinking made it feel awkward. Her words couldn't be refuted. It even thought, 'Yeah, that makes a lot of sense'.
After staring for a long time, Ji Zai finally figured out what the problem was: "Do—do you really want him to go to jail? Actually, I watched the whole thing. In my opinion, I thought you seemed to have a good time. Can you let him go down for forcing a woman? Isn't this turning your back on him after enjoying yourself?"
Yan Ge snapped: "If this body wasnt't so weak, Laoniang would have already killed him. Rebelling wasn't possible, but now Laoniang's not even allowed to enjoy it?"

I also agree whole-heartedly with above +1,000. I'm actually pretty aggravated this guy and the stupidly annoying Bird Beast both think it's cool bc she "enjoyed" herself and only thought of the consequences for the man. The ML literally admitted not being sorry about r@ping her and in fact, regretted not doing it sooner. To me that's a huge oversight on the authors part especially bc they did so well with the FL being very stern and honest in her contempt and disgust over what transpired and how they got the Bird Brain to wake up and sympathize that it wasn't her job to sacrifice her body for forever just to make everyone else happy. Having a ML who thought so selfishly and flippantly about what he FORCED her to do makes him so much worse than the Beast chasing her. Not cool man. :(

ReplyDeleteI take back my previous statement about having a FL willing to use her body for the mission. Not if it's non consensual. With the emperor she consented but here. She was very clearly raped. The pretty boy shows no remorse and that fucking bird is literally over here victim blaming her. Since she enjoyed it she should've just continued to roll in the sheets with him. She has every right to not want to finish the mission anymore, he can die sad and alone.
