Linlang took a taxi to the meeting place. The destination was a famous hotel chain.

Several young people chatted happily as they passed her by.

She heard what they were talking about.

For example, the number one male god and his disciple had finally showed up, and that the two matched each other very well. They were like a couple in love.

The corner of her mouth quirked up slightly.

In the plot, Ji Linlang was dragged into the wolf's den this night.

She drank a drugged beverage at the meeting and lost consciousness soon afterward. After waking up the next day, she found that a large number of people had carelessly broken into the room she was in to see the excitement. Her ex-boyfriend looked on indifferently yet took care to cover up his new lover's eyes so she wouldn't see the dirty scene.

Linlang walked to the front desk and immediately revealed her identity. "Hello, I am Fu Xi's girlfriend and I'm looking for him. Is it possible to send me to his room?"

The lady at the front desk immediately pulled out a key card and responded quite calmly. "This is the gentleman's room key."

Looks like someone was acting out on orders.

Linlang knew that Fu Xi was probably having dinner with the group of people, but she still followed the plot's original trajectory and went to the hotel room.

The moment the door was open, a portly man reeking of sweat pounced on her.

Oh, good. Her foot skills were going to come in handy.

After watching her leave, Xie Yaohua called the Fu family to notify them.

However, even after the dawdling old Master Fu had arrived, Linlang was still missing.

"Did something go wrong?" Someone murmured.

"Li Yuan, you big mouth¹!"

An uneasy atmosphere gradually filled the air.

Xie Yaohua couldn't help himself and called her, but she didn't answer.

Fu Xi's phone was turned off.

When the clock's pointer hit the half-hour mark, Xie Yaohua suddenly received a call from Linlang. "Hello? Sister-in-law?"

A burst of noise came through the phone followed by a crisp sound, as if something had been broken.

Xie Yaohua could faintly hear a crying voice. His face suddenly changed. "No, something's happened to Sister-in-law!"

He pushed Li Yuan who had been standing by the door and sprinted out of the room. The stout guys could only follow after him.

Bang!

The red door was kicked open, and a group of people turned around to stare at Xie Yaohua who had broken in.

Fu Xi had just bent down to support the drunken Yang Lu. The other party was latching onto him like an octopus and he didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

"Master, I like you!" Yang Lu narrowed her murky eyes. Her cheeks had a red shade from the intoxication. "I like you, I like you so much!" She made an exaggerated posture. "As much as the sea, so much that it's overflowing."

"Lulu, you're drunk." Fu Xi touched her forehead.

"I'm not drunk! Hurry up and say, do you like me?" She resumed her drunken act and Fu Xi had no other way to coax her. "Okay, I like Lulu the most. Be good and stop drinking."

Yang Lu lay on the man's chest in perfect bliss.

"I'll listen to you."

From a distance, the two looked like a pair of lovers.

Xi Yaohua was standing outside the door and saw everything.

Linlang's current situation was unknown, yet his most respected boss was humoring a conniving girl.

The vicious beast in his heart stirred.

He pulled out his phone and pushed the camera button with a cold expression.

"Hey, you—"

When someone wanted to stop him, Xie Yaohua broke into a run.

The most important thing right now was to find Linlang!

While running up the stairwell, his sharp eyes discovered blood.

He wiped the trace with his finger and found it hadn't yet cooled.

Almost immediately, he followed the trail up the stairs to the top floor where a man's cursing gradually became clearer.

"You bitch, if you don't let me catch you, Laozi will kill you!"

Xie Yaohua saw a fat man lifting a stool high up in the air. Using all his might, he struck the closed door until his fatty body jiggled from the force.

Xie Yaohua suddenly shot forward, grabbed the wooden stool, and kicked the man who was still hurling obscenities down the stairs.

The fat man tumbled like a snowball. Muttering curses, he hadn't been able to get up when the youth kicked him from behind.

Surprised by the young man's ominous expression, the fat man was stunned, then immediately cried out for mercy from abject terror. "This is none of my business, I was called over!"

Xie Yaohua's intuition told him that something was off, but there wasn't time to think. Gritting his teeth, he slammed the door open with his body. His body was thrown off from the force and he had to grab a nearby railing to stay upright.

No one's here?

His brows wrinkled as he scoped the dark surroundings. The debris piled up at the corner caught his attention. He carefully removed the items until a curled-up figure was revealed.

"Sister-in-law..." He lightly patted her shoulder.

"Ah! Don't touch me! Get away! Don't touch me! You scum!" It was as if Linlang had gone mad. She was scratching and kicking the person, utterly beside herself. The man had to hold her head firmly against his chest and shout, "Don't be scared. It's me, Xie Yaohua, A Hua! I came for you. No one can bully you!"

He kept repeating the words like a guarantee.

Her movements paused. Raising her head, she looked at him almost unbelievably, "A Hua?"

There was a bloodstain at the corner of her eye, and those normally spring-like eyes were now coated with deep fear. "A Hua, is it you?" Xie Yaohua felt a burst of pain in his heart. How he wanted to rush out and dismember that man into a thousand pieces.

"It's me, Linlang. I'm here. Don't worry, I'll protect you."

He gently stroked her hair, hoping to ease her panic.

He didn't call her Sister-in-law anymore because Fu Xi didn't deserve to have her.

He was unworthy.

"Why did you only come now? Why?" Suddenly, the person broke down and began to furiously beat his chest while she screamed, "Do you know how scared I was? I couldn't get through your phone. Was the meeting really that important? You obviously said you'll never turn it off! Why did you lie to me! You're a liar!"

At this moment, her face was covered in tears.

Xie Yaohua knew she wasn't in her right mind and had mistaken him for the boss. His heart felt bitter and anguished. "It's my fault, I was late. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." He spoke softly, "I promise I'll never be late again. I will never leave you alone."

Linlang's chest was wracked with sobs while the man patted her back in the manner of coaxing a small child.

The person in his arms firmly latched onto his collar until she fainted.

Xie Yaohua caressed the pale face. Her dry lips were smeared with red, resembling a rose close to withering away.

Slowly, he bowed his head and gently kissed the space between her brows.

Her beauty made one shudder.

If I stop at nothing to have you, will you be afraid?

But I swear, I'm more worthy than that person!
