After My Death, The Villain Blackened Again: Chapter 9

AMDTVBA Chapter 9 After My Death, The Villain Blackened Again: Chapter 9

ARC 1: THE EMPEROR SCHEMES TO GRAB A MAN'S WIFE (6)

Emperor Yuan drew his sword and stepped in front of the delicate youth.

It wasn’t known who extinguished the lanterns in the room. As the men in black were fighting with the secret guards, Emperor Yuan had pulled the 'young man' to the side the moment the lights were out.

To his surprise, 'his' small and lithe hands had thick sword calluses.

The sound of the sword blocking an assassin’s attack would turn him into a live target within the darkness. Emperor Yuan had wanted to pull the 'man' behind him, but instead found himself pulled back. The youth had even been one step ahead of the assassin.

The scabbard in 'his' hands parried the assassin's weapon, and the clashing sounds were extremely clear-cut in the flurry of swords taking place in the dark.

Emperor Yuan was slightly relieved. He released the youth's hand and stood back-to-back to defend against the enemies.

Even with his own secret guards blocking the front, waves of assassins rushed forward to claim his life.

The youth was still weaker than himself, and so Emperor Yuan steeled himself for an attack. In this situation of life and death, a hint of heroic passion burst forth from him.

Suddenly, Emperor Yuan staggered from a push and the dull sound of a sword piercing flesh was heard in the next instant.

He squeezed the sword in his hand. Raising it once more, he fought the two assassins that tried to deal with the youth.

When the candles in the room were lit again, all the people in black had been resolved. The mortally wounded assassins ultimately bit down on poison and died.

Emperor Yuan immediately rushed to support the youth up: "Yan Ge, where were you injured?"

His words had just fallen when he fell into a slight daze. The jade crown on Yan Ge's head had shattered, and crow-black hair trailed over ‘his’ shoulders. ‘His’ originally gentle and reserved features looked more like a woman at that moment.

This Yan Ge made Emperor Yuan feel somewhat strange, but it was only for a fleeting moment.

Yan Ge covered her bleeding chest with one hand and used the other to hold his hand so she wouldn’t fall: "The wound isn’t deep, but the sword was poisoned."

After those words fell, she lost consciousness.

The swords had been laced with poison and several secret guards were also poisoned from their injuries.

The poison itself was fierce. It seemed they truly wanted Emperor Yuan dead.

Seeing that Yan Ge fainted in his arms, Emperor Yuan fed 'him' the detoxifying pills he brought with him: "Return to the palace immediately and have an imperial physician on standby."

When Yan Ge came to, it was already the second day.

She looked at the bright yellow curtains surrounding her; there was no way she couldn’t know where she was.

Ji Zai twittered in her mind: "The emperor saw the scars on your body and still touched you with his hands. Doesn’t this mean he already likes you?”

It was so delighted that it nearly said, ‘this task is too easy'.

A love trial was more than just a ‘like’.

Ming Lan fought on the battlefield for years and so her body was covered with all kinds of scars. Emperor Yuan might doubt her identity after seeing them.

Yan Ge’s chest was wrapped in gauze, and the wound that was pulled slightly by her movements was extremely painful. When she groaned, someone walked up to the bed: "Awake?"

It was Emperor Yuan. He had been going over memorials1 on a nearby desk when he heard a sound and immediately went to sit by the bed.

Yan Ge asked in confusion: "What is this place?"

Her eyes landed on Emperor Yuan's body and her face was instantly shocked.

Although Emperor Yuan wore informal clothing, the patterns were all of five-clawed dragons. Furthermore, the bright yellow material was a color exclusive to the emperor.

Following Yan Ge’s eyes, Emperor Yuan caught sight of the dragon embroidery on his own clothes. He lowered his head slightly, then looked back at her.

  1. Memorial (奏折—zòu zhé)‘memorial’ as in ‘a memorial to the throne’. They were the official communication to the emperor↩︎

She got 'caught' so soon in the arc...Anyway, I'm debating whether to push out an extra chapter a week. I can guarantee two, but any more may not be released consistently.

Comments

  1. Ha. They're both "revealed" to the other. How will they move forward? I can't wait.

    Thanks for the chapter!

  2. Haha, It'll be nice seeing how Emperor Yuan reacts. Especially seeing how his favourite person is actually the General...
