AMDTVBA Chapter 42 After My Death, The Villain Blackened Again: Chapter 42

ARC 1: THE EMPEROR SCHEMES TO GRAB A MAN’S WIFE (39)

Luo Shangyi walked to the chessboad on the table beside the chaise lounge and placed every piece inside the chess box.

There were several letters out in the open and Luo Shangyi carefully stored them in the nearby sandalwood box. She had put them away many times before and did not need to read them to know they were made up of the same contents.

When she was done, she called out softly: "Your Majesty should sleep."

She stepped forward and gently tugged Emperor Yuan's sleeve as she said helplessly: "Your Majesty, there is a morning assembly tomorrow."

Emperor Yuan turned to glance at her hand holding his sleeve. Luo Shangyi immediately retracted it: "Will Your Majesty flip a tablet tonight?"

Emperor Yuan looked at the slightly lowered head that revealed her white and slender neck. He said: "The talents in Chaotang this year are very bright. Is there anyone you look upon favorably?"

When Luo Shangyi heard those words, she looked up with a pale face then knelt in front of Emperor Yuan: "Your Majesty, I am the wife of the Ming family. If Your Grace does not wish to shelter me, I can only return to the Ming household and keep vigil over General Ming."

Emperor Yuan's lips pursed slightly. A Yan is his woman. There was no need for other women to wear the willow for her.

The reason he kept this woman in the palace was so she would not have delusional thoughts about occupying A Yan.

Luo Shangyi did not know that she had touched Emperor Yuan's reverse scale. Feeling aggrieved, she looked up at this emperor who was in the prime of his life. She wanted to speak up but was unable to say anything.

She could not be more familiar with the handwriting of those letters the young emperor repeatedly caressed.

She thought she had discovered the tenderness hidden under his hard exterior. His love that was separated by death and gender made her feel truly distressed for him...

Emperor Yuan interrupted Luo Shangyi's thoughts, and his voice was unquestionably cold: "The newly appointed minister that ranked third in the imperial exams is good. Zhen will seal you as a princess of the fourth rank. May you two be happy for a hundred years. Withdraw now, Zhen will stay alone for a while."

Luo Shangyi's complexion was deathly pale. Forgetting her manners, she raised her head to look at this valiant and imposing emperor. She never imagined she would be sent out of the palace one day. Although she knew she could never be his favorite, she thought she could be a substitute.

Emperor Yuan no longer minded her and trimmed the wick. Under the flickering light of the candle, he reopened the box containing the letters.

She wrote the same thing in the numerous letters intercepted by Wucheng.

Your Majesty:

Treat these words as if we're speaking in person!

A Yan

The words were simple, but they contained her endless hopes and expectations.

His fingers slowly rubbed across the letter, and when they touched her name he whispered: "A Yan."

A Yan, another winter is approaching. If it snows at the border, will you be all right wherever you are?

Are you still waiting for Zhen?

The wind blew in from the window, lifting up the letters in his hand. The candlelight could not bear the cold wind and swayed from side to side.

He carefully placed the letter back in the box. Gathering his cloak, he got up to lift the lampshade and trimmed the long wick.

The candle's flame flickered in his eyes and he absentmindedly felt as if he was standing at the door.

She was trimming the candle's wick.

Her figure was as beautiful as a jade tree.

She turned her head, calling him "Qi'an" with a smile on her face.

Her voice was cool and crystal-clear. There seemed to be pearls and jades surging in him, forming ripples that softened his heart.

"A Yan!" He stretched out his hand to hug her, but only caught air.

The candlestick drop to the ground where the flame surged. He stood still in the same place, gradually becoming an elongated shadow within the light of the fire.

Beyond the open window were ranges upon ranges of majestic palace halls.

This was his palace, this was his world.

But he was a solitary soul. The beauty and bosom friend was no more; the belle and the hero have perished!

  1. as I understand now that "mighty person" is actually the emperor but he is a reincarnation of him or something and he is enduring a trial of love to become immortal or something instead of more traditional thunder tribulation? But what I'm more concerned about is the baby... was he never born? I'm not sure how long he was in her belly but he could've survived if it was 6+ months, just being sick? But with the way it's going I guess he died afterall...
